Bucharest to Budapest: your Transylvania tour itinerary

This is the planned route, not a guaranteed timetable. Your agent confirms the order, access and pickup arrangements for your date.

Day 1: Bucharest, Peleș, Bran and Brașov

  1. Departure from Bucharest

Meet at the agreed starting point. A drive past the Triumph Arch may form part of the departure route.

  2. Peleș Castle, Sinaia

    Peleș Castle, Sinaia

See the royal residence framed by wooded mountain slopes. Interior visits depend on the museum schedule and your ticket time slot; allow time for the uphill walk from the parking area.

  3. Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle)

    Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle)

Explore the fortress above Bran and its connection with Romanian royal history. The Dracula association belongs to the literary legend, not evidence that the fictional count lived here.

  4. Brașov Old Town

    Brașov Old Town

Walk around Council Square, the Black Church area and the lanes below Tâmpa. A church interior visit is separate from the Old Town walk and depends on access.

Day 2: Sighișoara and Sibiu

  1. Sighișoara Citadel

    Sighișoara Citadel

Walk through a lived-in UNESCO-listed historic centre, with guild towers and cobbled lanes. The Clock Tower, Covered Stairway and Church on the Hill can be discussed with your guide; interior visits depend on opening hours.

  2. Sibiu Old Town

    Sibiu Old Town

Explore the Great and Small Squares, the Bridge of Lies and roof windows known as the city’s “eyes”. Museum interiors are distinct from the guided street walk.

Day 3: Alba Iulia, Corvin Castle and Timișoara

  1. Alba Iulia Citadel

    Alba Iulia Citadel

Explore the gates and walking routes of the star-shaped Alba Carolina fortress. Its present fortifications date from the eighteenth century, rather than the Roman period.

  2. Corvin Castle, Hunedoara

    Corvin Castle, Hunedoara

Approach the castle across its raised bridge and explore its courtyards and Gothic architecture. Your guide distinguishes documented history from the legends associated with the fortress.

  3. Timișoara historic centre

    Timișoara historic centre

Walk around the central squares before the overnight stay. Museum entry and evening activities can be discussed separately.

Day 4: Arad and Budapest

  1. Arad stop

Pause around the Philharmonic landmark area before continuing to Hungary. Confirm the final Budapest drop-off point and any onward travel needs.

  2. Arrival in Budapest

    Arrival in Budapest

Complete the one-way journey at the agreed location. The arrival stage is not a three-hour guided Budapest sightseeing tour unless separately arranged.

Practical information

  • Carry the travel documents required for your nationality and check entry conditions for each country. Share any onward flight or train details before the route is confirmed.

  • Food and drinks unless specified, admissions and gratuities are excluded.

Peleș visiting arrangements
