Why choose this private route?

- Compare wooden church traditions with the painted monastery heritage of Bucovina.
- The published package includes six breakfasts, private minivan transport and an English-speaking guide.
Your 7-day private Romania tour itinerary
This is the planned route, not a guaranteed timetable. Your agent confirms the order, access and pickup arrangements for your date.
Day 1: Bucharest, Curtea de Argeș and Sibiu
Curtea de Argeș
Visit the monastery area on the way north. The onward route may use the Transfăgărășan when open, or an agreed road alternative.
Transfăgărășan mountain road

Follow the high mountain section only when it is open and conditions permit. Photo stops are made where safe; seasonal restrictions can require an agreed alternative route.
Sibiu Old Town

Explore the Great and Small Squares, the Bridge of Lies and roof windows known as the city’s “eyes”. Museum interiors are distinct from the guided street walk.
Day 2: Alba Iulia and Maramureș
Alba Iulia Citadel

Explore the gates and walking routes of the star-shaped Alba Carolina fortress. Its present fortifications date from the eighteenth century, rather than the Roman period.
Arrival in Maramureș
Continue north for the next overnight stage. Church stops depend on the agreed route and local visiting arrangements.
Day 3: Maramureș villages
Bârsana, Dragomirești and Săpânța
Explore the monastery complex at Bârsana, the village museum at Dragomirești and the painted grave markers of the Merry Cemetery. Admissions are separate from the package.
Day 4: Tihuța Pass and Bucovina
Transfer to Bucovina and Voroneț
Travel between regions before the planned Voroneț visit. Leave flexibility for the long drive and monastery hours.
Day 5: Bucovina monasteries
Moldovița, Sucevița and Marginea
Visit the painted-monastery route and discuss a black-pottery stop in Marginea. Workshop demonstrations depend on local availability.
Day 6: Bicaz Gorge, Red Lake and Brașov
Bicaz Gorge and Red Lake
Break the journey south with stops around the gorge and lake where conditions permit. Follow safe walking routes and leave time for the drive to Brașov.
Brașov Old Town

Walk around Council Square, the Black Church area and the lanes below Tâmpa. A church interior visit is separate from the Old Town walk and depends on access.
Day 7: Bran, Peleș and Bucharest
Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle)

Explore the fortress above Bran and its connection with Romanian royal history. The Dracula association belongs to the literary legend, not evidence that the fictional count lived here.
Peleș Castle, Sinaia

See the royal residence framed by wooded mountain slopes. Interior visits depend on the museum schedule and your ticket time slot; allow time for the uphill walk from the parking area.
Practical information
- Confirm the six overnight locations and hotel category in the written quote. Other meals, attraction admissions and photo fees are excluded.
- Respect worshippers at active monasteries and follow posted photography rules.
- Bring a warm layer and waterproof jacket for mountain stops. Do not approach or feed wildlife, and follow your driver-guide’s safety advice.
- Wear shoes with grip for cobbles, steps and uneven paths. Tell us about mobility needs before booking so the route can be assessed.
Peleș visiting arrangements
Peleș interiors are normally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Ticket time slots have limited capacity; confirm access before choosing your departure.
The museum also announces an interior closure from 2 November to 1 December 2026 for conservation. Discuss an exterior stop or an agreed alternative for these dates.
