Your 12-day Transylvania, Maramureș and Bucovina itinerary

This is the planned route, not a guaranteed timetable. Your agent confirms the order, access and pickup arrangements for your date.

Day 1: Arrival in Bucharest

  1. Arrival and hotel check-in

    Arrival and hotel check-in

Confirm arrival arrangements and check into the accommodation selected in your quote. Sightseeing time depends on your arrival schedule.

Day 2: Bucharest city tour

  1. Explore the capital

    Explore the capital

Discover the Old Town, Revolution Square and the Parliament area with your guide. Interior visits require separate access arrangements.

Day 3: Cozia, Sibiel and Sibiu

  1. Cozia Monastery and Sibiel

Travel north through the Olt Valley, with a monastery stop and a visit to Sibiel. A home-hosted meal must be confirmed separately, as meals other than breakfast are excluded from the published package.

  2. Sibiu Old Town

    Sibiu Old Town

Explore the Great and Small Squares, the Bridge of Lies and roof windows known as the city’s “eyes”. Museum interiors are distinct from the guided street walk.

Day 4: Sibiu to Cluj-Napoca

  1. Corvin Castle or Turda route

    Corvin Castle or Turda route

The published itinerary offers a choice involving Corvin Castle or the Turda area. Confirm which route and admissions your offer covers; both alternatives are not automatically included.

Day 5: Maramureș and Săpânța

  1. Merry Cemetery and village heritage

Continue to Maramureș to see the painted grave markers of the Merry Cemetery and the region’s wooden architecture. Local opening arrangements determine the individual stops.

Day 6: Bârsana and Ieud

  1. Wooden churches and village visits

Explore the monastery complex at Bârsana and the village heritage around Ieud. Respect active religious spaces and their photography rules.

Day 7: Steam train and transfer to Bucovina

  1. Mocănița experience

The planned steam-train ride depends on the operator’s timetable and ticket availability. Confirm the departure, admission cost and onward transfer before booking.

Day 8: Bucovina monastery route

  1. Voroneț, Moldovița, Sucevița and Marginea

Explore painted-monastery heritage and discuss a pottery stop at Marginea. Workshop demonstrations and individual interiors depend on local access.

Day 9: Red Lake, Bicaz Gorge and Sighișoara

  1. Landscape stops on the journey south

Allow time for safe stops around the gorge and lake before reaching Sighișoara. Weather and road conditions can change the sightseeing order.

  2. Sighișoara Citadel

    Sighișoara Citadel

Walk through a lived-in UNESCO-listed historic centre, with guild towers and cobbled lanes. The Clock Tower, Covered Stairway and Church on the Hill can be discussed with your guide; interior visits depend on opening hours.

Day 10: Viscri and Brașov

  1. Viscri Village

    Viscri Village

Follow village lanes to the fortified church and learn how a place of worship also protected its community. Private homes and royal-associated properties are not automatically open to visitors.

  2. Brașov Old Town

    Brașov Old Town

Walk around Council Square, the Black Church area and the lanes below Tâmpa. A church interior visit is separate from the Old Town walk and depends on access.

Day 11: Bran, Peleș and Bucharest

  1. Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle)

    Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle)

Explore the fortress above Bran and its connection with Romanian royal history. The Dracula association belongs to the literary legend, not evidence that the fictional count lived here.

  2. Peleș Castle, Sinaia

    Peleș Castle, Sinaia

See the royal residence framed by wooded mountain slopes. Interior visits depend on the museum schedule and your ticket time slot; allow time for the uphill walk from the parking area.

Day 12: Departure

  1. Final arrangements

Confirm the departure timing and any required transfer in your written offer. Avoid assuming that every optional service is included.
